How about Terminal Velocity from Sonic Colors?

Hey, everyone! Ah man, I love this track! Here we have a really high energy track, running in line with a lot of the more modern Sonic stages. Makes sense, considering we’re running through a space station at high…velocities. Anyway!

This is a pretty dense loop. We have our driving percussion, an ostinato distorted guitar that’s low in range, some keyboard synths, a comping distorted guitar, a melody guitar, and horn kicks all wrapped up into one! The bass really deep into the mix, and doesn’t really play a prominent role in the groove; I’m guessing it imitates the lowest guitar. The melody guitar has some great, screaming melodic lines going on, all of them really catchy! I love the horn kicks, and they kind of remind me of Skyscraper Scamper - Day from Unleashed a little bit. Not a lot, but there’s a vague relation. Maybe it’s the chord structure going on, which I really dig. It’s a little hard for me to analyze, especially with the near constant groove in the low guitar. I think my favorite riff is the one near the end of the loop, the really short and repetitive one—it goes right into the turnaround of the entire loop. This whole thing really drives, and it really rocks!

There is an Act 2, but for those of you who have played Colors, it’s only about thirty seconds long before you get sucked up by the machine, and it sounds just about the same. The percussion is a little different, but only barely, and the guitar starts up high and screeching. The horn kicks are also way more prominent.
